and the San Francisco Bay area, Yolo
County’s home-grown small towns
dotting the countryside, are rooted in
authenticity.
Yolo County Countryside
Home to two dozen wineries and tasting
rooms, at Seka Hills, you can sip wine,
enjoy the view and pick up a bottle of their
award-winning extra virgin olive oil. Or
visit 15 farms open to the public for fresh
produce and flowers. In spring, you can
pick fresh lavender at the Capay Valley
Lavender Farm. Come summer, take a
driving tour through miles of fields
blooming with sunflowers. All year round,
hop aboard the River Fox Train to roll
through Yolo County’s vast farmland.
Sample hand-crafted brews at Yolo
County’s famous microbreweries: Three Mile
Brewery in Davis, Berryessa Brewing Com-
pany in Winters and Blue Note in Woodland.
Walkable, Bikeable Davis
This vibrant university town boasts Cali-
fornia’s oldest, certified farmers’ market,
held every Wednesday and Saturday. Cultur-
ally influenced by UC Davis, take a walk on
the artsy side or taste a seasonal brew at
Sudwerk. Home of the first official bike lane
back in 1967, rent a bike in the Bicycle Cap-
ital of America to ride the town’s scenic 100
miles of bike trails.
Woodland’s Historic Treasures
Take a walking tour of the downtown’s his-
toric architecture listed on the Register of
Historic Places. Or catch a concert in the 1896
Woodland Opera House. Inside an old bank
building, Father Paddy’s Irish Pub offers
authentic Irish fare and 90 whiskey varieties
stored in a whiskey vault. The California
Agricultural Museum displays the state’s
agricultural legacy with 180,000-square-feet
of interactive exhibits and a huge collection
of antique farming equipment.
Discover Small Town America
in Winters
Voted one of America’s top small town food
scenes by USAToday, Winters’ hopping
downtown district offers handmade
wood-fired pizza at Putah Creek Café and
farm-to-fork meals are offered at the Inn at
Park Winters outside of town. Sample cheese
and Tempranillo wine at Turkovich Family
Wines, or sip a spirits sampler at Patio 29.
For a relaxing getaway, Yolo County has
abundant lodging including charming B&Bs
and inns, small motels and large hotels.
